One BLack Apart

En

One Block Apart is a photographic project documenting the Inwang Apartment complex in Seoul, constructed in 1968 during Korea’s post-war reconstruction period. Once a symbol of urban growth, the building now awaits demolition. As residents have left, traces of their lives remain—scattered furniture, rusted fire hydrants, and tangled electric wires—silent witnesses to what once was.

By photographing these remnants, I explore the quiet tension between absence and presence. Nature, slowly reclaiming the space with weeds, wind, and rust, becomes a gentle but powerful force against the erasure of memory. This project poses a question: What lingers in a place after its people are gone?
